Twenty-four finely tuned horses and jockeys vie for the richest prize in Australian sport as Flemington Racecourse comes alive in a swirl of fine fashion, festive cheer and frenetic thoroughbred racing action. At 3pm, all eyes are on the track as another chapter of Australian history unfolds. Gates open at 7.30am and last race is at 5.20pm. Public Transport The best way to get to the track is by train. Trains leave from Flinders St (Platform 8 & 9) and stop at Southern Cross (Platform 14) and North Melbourne (Platform 6) before terminating at the Racecourse platform.
