Emirates Melbourne Cup Day
On the first Tuesday in November each year, Australia's most famous horse race, the Emirates Melbourne Cup literally stops the nation. Twenty-four finely tuned horses and jockeys vie for the richest prize in Australian sport as Flemington Racecourse comes alive in a swirl of fine fashion, festive cheer and frenetic thoroughbred racing action. At 3pm, all eyes are on the track as another chapter of Australian history unfolds.
Gates open at 7.30am and last race is at 5.20pm.
Public Transport
The best way to get to the track is by train. Trains leave from Flinders St (Platform 8 & 9) and stop at Southern Cross (Platform 14) and North Melbourne (Platform 6) before terminating at the Racecourse platform.
The journey from the City to the Racecourse platform takes approximately 15 minutes
First train leaves Flinders St at 7.15am
First return train leaves Flemington at 2.00pm
Last return train leaves Flemington at 9.00pm
Peak frequency- every 4 minutes
